Step-by-Step Playthrough
- West leads with the 8 of Diamonds.
- North plays the 4 of Diamonds.
- East plays as high as possible, which is the King of Diamonds.
- South wins the trick with the Ace of Diamonds.
- South plays the 5 of Spades to North’s fork.
- If West plays the King of Spades, North wins the trick with the Ace of Spades.
- If West plays low, North plays the Queen of Spades to take the trick.
- After North wins with the Queen of Spades, North plays the Ace of Spades next.
- Now in North’s hand, North plays Diamonds toward the fork of Ace-Queen.
- East can play the King of Diamonds or a low card.
- If East plays a low card, North wins with the Jack of Diamonds.
- Since the King of Diamonds is still in play, you must play toward the fork again.
- First, cross back to North with a Heart to the Ace.
- Then play Diamonds again toward the Ace-Queen fork.
- East plays a low card, so take the trick with the Queen of Diamonds.
- Now in South’s hand, play the Ace of Diamonds.
- The King of Diamonds falls under the Ace, and you win the trick.
- South now makes two more tricks with the 7 and 6 of Diamonds.
- On North’s side, discard your remaining Spades.
- Finally, play a Heart to the King of Hearts.
- Continue playing Hearts to take the remaining tricks.
All tricks are now won by North and South.
Note:
If you play the Aces first, East and West can win two tricks with their Kings.
